In Davos, Russia was judged by Tatarstan, and KazanSummit was represented as the key event of the Islamic world

The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov represented our republic at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

In Switzerland, the leaders of 110 countries and representatives of large business discussed globalization, digital economy, development of alternative energy sources, global infrastructure projects, as well as the role of Russia in the modern world, and assessed it in many ways by Tatarstan.

Thus, General Director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev noted Tatarstan as the most profitable region for investment.

The republic runs counter to international trends in attracting investment indeed. "While global foreign investment flows are falling by various estimations by 15-20 per cent, foreign investments in Tatarstan are growing", - the Head of tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina noted at the final board meeting of the Agency.

The participants of the World Economic Forum were interested in how economic sanctions affected the work with investors. Rustam Minnikhanov noted that despite the fact that sanctions had a negative effect on both sides, foreign companies continued to implement their commercial projects in Russia and Tatarstan. Thus, "KAMAZ" and "Daimler" plan to launch the joint production facility of cabin frames with capacity of 55,000 units per year. Another example was the fact that in 2018, "Nizhnekamskneftekhim" company and "Deutsche Bank" signed a loan agreement for 807 million Euros. The funds will be used to finance the project for the construction of a large ethylene complex.

The experts also noted that Tatarstan is a large Muslim community. Indeed, about 2 million Muslims live on the territory of our republic. Today, Russia is an observer in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, work in this direction is under way. On behalf of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Rustam Minnikhanov heads the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic world", which represents 30 OIC countries, and this is no accident: for 10 years, Tatarstan has been a center of Islamic world development. International economic summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit", traditionally held in the capital of Tatarstan, became an international platform for strengthening trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural ties between Russian regions and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as promoting the development of the institutes of Islamic finance system in Russia.

Rustam Minnikhanov also noted, that the Muslim countries had been greatly interested in KazanSummit as it revealed the halal way of life and opportunities of its development in terms of business.

In 2018, the summit was attended by 3 000 people - the representatives of 53 countries, 27 regions of Russia, ambassadors of 17 diplomatic missions.

"There is a Muslim factor. Let's say I'm a Muslim. This opens many doors in the Arabic world, Central Asia. We have great relationship with everyone. Thus, today Turkey is one of our main investors. As many as 10 large Turkish factories have been opened in the republic over the past 7-8 years," - the President added.
